He hides his soul every time he meets her but the rains are not helping today. He is sure it is the sunglasses and not the borrowed purple umbrella which is earning him the stares.

She smiles at the glimpse of the purple umbrella. She thinks, this man is behind my heart.

Just then a strong wind sweeps the umbrella away and he cannot do much. As it flies away, he catches her staring. Can she touch his soul? Can she be the reason for this funny feeling in his stomach?

He removes the sunglasses to take a better look.

Hollywood movies have become a staple for me, these days. Each morning starts with a scan of the movie listings on Star, HBO, PIX, Studio and more. It makes me watch mushy romances or simply thrillers or a comedy.

And, one thing I love is a simple message I usually get through them. Few ring true, others make me want to think more on those words. So here are a few which I remember.

  • When a pristine white-attired God tells Bruce Almighty to ‘Be the Miracle.‘ The three words just give me hope and motivation, each time I think about giving up on a difficult task or a challenging relationship.

Bruce Almighty

To see the path, one has envisioned – choices are to be made and the outcome of decisions to be endured. So if you want your wish to be true, work on it – coz you can make it happen.

  • Jennifer Lopez’s Maid in Manhattan act didn’t win my heart, but one of its dialogues did.  When Lionel tells Marisa, Lopez’s screen name  – What we do, Miss Ventura, does not define who we are.  What defines us is how well we rise after falling.”

Maid in Manhattan

Just like a phoenix, who rises from the ashes. To fall is to learn. But remember, do not make all the mistakes yourselves. Sometimes, simply learn from others. 😉

  • Tom Cruise’s Jerry Maguire act had me drooling. But more than that, it was his never-give-up attitude that one admires. Renee Zellweger’s single mother act and the nerdy, bespectacled kid makes you fall in love with them.

It has one of the most romantic dialogues, to serenade your loved one.

This one’s for him : “I love him for the man he wants to be, and I love him for the man he almost is. I love him.”

Jerry Maguire

And, for her – read this and you will know what am talking of.

Jerry: Hello. I’m looking for my wife. Alright. If this is where it has to happen, then this is where it has to happen. I’m not letting you get rid of me. How about that? This used to be my specialty. I was good in a living room. Send me in there, I’ll do it alone. And now I just… I don’t know…but our little company had a good night tonight. A really big night. But it wasn’t complete, it wasn’t nearly close to being in the same vicinity as complete, because I couldn’t share it with you. I couldn’t hear your voice, or laugh about it with you. I missed my wife. We live in a cynical world, and we work in a business of tough competitors, I love you. You complete me. And I just…
Dorothy: Shut up. Just shut up. You had me at hello.
Well, these are just a few. Will add to the list, as they come up. Till that time, why don’t you write in your favourite movie dialogue? Why you like it? If there’s a story, share it. If not, it never hurts to share.
